USA Today Highlights Jesuit Schools

With Pope Francis’s upcoming U.S. visit comes many news stories about the Holy Father and the Jesuits. One such article, from USA Today, spotlights Jesuit schools, and it provides a quick overview of the history of Jesuit education.

“If you’d asked St. Ignatius in 1540, ‘Would you be working in schools?’ he would have given you a confused look,” says the Rev. David Collins, a Georgetown history professor and a Jesuit. “It just wasn’t on their radar screen.”…

“There was a population that was interested in it. There was a new demand and no supply—and the Jesuits stepped in.”

Today there are 28 Jesuit colleges in the U.S. This quiz challenges you to name them all.
