  1. Yes, I totally get what the author is trying to say. We should consider others in our decisions and desires. Absolutely. But what was this man supposed to do? Stay with his wife and be unhappy and miserable? In the end that would not be fair to her either or himself. He probably would grow resentful and cold and she would be unhappy in a loveless marriage. So he is really doing her a favor, setting her free to find someone else who can love her the way she deserves to be loved. The fact of the matter is, we all make mistakes and one of those mistakes is marrying someone who wasn’t right for us. ( I am not talking about having a midlife crisis and having an affair with a 22 year old) I am talking about back tracking, and undoing the mistakes we did. So does God want us to be happy? I think YES. He wants the man and the woman in this story to be happy. Sometimes the pursuit of happiness involves some loss and pain though. Staying with someone you do not love and don’t care about is not doing that person any favors and probably isn’t God’s will.
