Getting Ready for Lent 2024

The Life of Jesus Lenten Read-Along - book with author Andrea Tornielli

Ash Wednesday is February 14, 2024, so today we’re highlighting just a few of the many Ignatian-inspired features designed to help you observe Lent.

The Life of Jesus Lenten Read-Along

Plan now to join the 2024 Lenten read-along with Loyola Press. We’ll be reading The Life of Jesus by Andrea Tornielli. The Life of Jesus delivers a spiritually immersive narrative that interlaces the Gospels, the author’s imaginative reflections, and the insights of Pope Francis.

How to Participate

  1. Purchase your copy of The Life of Jesus. Get 30% off the cover price when using code 5427.*
  2. Download the read-along schedule.
  3. Post your thoughts, favorite quotes, or reactions with #lentreadalong on social media.

The Loyola Press read-along begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2024, and runs through Holy Week, March 24 through March 30, 2024.

On Fridays during Lent, visit IgnatianSpirituality.com for special content related to our read-along, including opportunities to discuss sections of the book with other readers.

An Ignatian Prayer Adventure

Join in an adapted version of the Spiritual Exercises, perfectly timed as a Lent and Easter retreat. This year Kevin O’Brien, SJ, author of The Ignatian Adventure, will offer weekly video reflections based on themes of the retreat. Look for these posts on Wednesdays. The retreat begins on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday (February 11) and concludes the week after Easter.

Living Lent Daily

Explore how to listen for God’s voice through Living Lent Daily, an e-mail series inspired by God’s Voice Within by Mark E. Thibodeaux, SJ. Each day’s message will include an excerpt from the book, a prayer experience, or a reflection on discernment and decision-making. Subscribe to the Year in Our Church to receive these messages.

  1. I’m sorry to be such a dolt, but I don’t understand where/how to participate in the Lenten Read Along.
Is there a dedicated web address, or Facebook page, or what? If there are videos, etc, how do I access them?
I’ve got my book on Kindle, got my schedule, and I’m ready to go!
    Thanks!

    • Jay, on Fridays here at dotMagis we’ll post read-along features, and you can share your thoughts in the comments box for those posts. We also encourage you and other readers to use the hashtag #lentreadalong on whatever social media channel works for you. If conversation is not happening on your preferred social network, be bold and start the conversation.

      Thanks for reading along!
