I have found it is absolutely true that knowing our history helps us understand our future. In companioning my father through his final years of life, I learned so much about his life in all stages that explained the choices he made for his life and his family. Having discussions about certain various times in his life, I believe healed his old wounds and I came accept and know the real man Dad was outside the role of parent – the man he never allowed us to get to know at a younger age. I experienced a peaceful letting go of him at his passing that would not have been possible before the stories. Such wisdom, love and gift! Thank you!
