The Time Is Now

reaching out

Somewhere nearby—perhaps a co-worker in the next cubicle; a friend across the room; a stranger in the chair next to you; a spouse beside you in bed; a child clawing at your leg for attention—there, now, is an opportunity for love. Before you is God’s invitation to know him. Do not delay; do not postpone love. Reach for it; give your whole self to it. Use your imagination, for love is not for the sluggish. Surprise him with love; overwhelm her with love—and be surprised and overwhelmed. God is nearby.

“Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act” (Psalm 37:5).

  1. “…before you is God’s invitation to know Him…” It’s in these boring, everyday bits that God usually comes to me, duh…

Okay, okay! A gentle reminder of what my dear Jesuit anam cara keeps trying to tell me.

I’ll try (again) to let go of the yearning for the “special effects in 3-D/high definition” kinds of encounters.

  2. Great word like Bob, Psalms 37 is one of my life scripture.
A needed word and reminder for all of us.

This website provides that needed word in due season often!

    Thank you.

  3. Thank you, Tim, for such a clear and direct posting: “Do not postpone love!” With the grace of God, I will add these four simple words to my daily prayer. On a personal note,I would be remiss if I did not say hello to you for my dear wife, Jean Papalia (Advisor to the BC rowing club/team a few decades back). In gratitude, Jay
