What Does "Magis" Mean?

An Ignatian Prayer Adventure online retreat

The idea of magis comes from the Call of the King meditation in the Spiritual Exercises. There’s a response to Christ’s invitation beyond whole-hearted. We can reach for the magis.

This video is a part of An Ignatian Prayer Adventure, Week 5.

  1. Jim,
Thank you for your videos. I have been participating in the Ignatian Prayer Adventure daily, now in week 5, and appreciate the way you explain the Ignatian spirituality. Thank you for your work, outreach, and passion for sharing and encouraging a deepening and profound relationship with Jesus Christ to all.

  2. Hi, Jim — Thank you for the I[gnatian]-treats of your vlog and the TED presentation! A welcome and kind Ignatian grounding and logjam breaker for my day during a Lent of big Spirit flows. See you ’round the ranch. 🙂

  3. Jim, you included so many powerful statements but I really appreciate what you said near the end – that reaching for the magis is an exercise in humility. “We always need God to take us where we want to go.” Our greatest strength is our dependence on God.
