Fr. Joseph Tetlow, SJ, responds to the question, “What hints can you give us for understanding Jesus’ human experience through prayer?”

He offers three pieces of advice in answer:

  • Read and re-read the Gospels.
  • Know that the Holy Spirit is active in the Gospels and in our hearts, helping us to understand what the Gospels are.
  • Remember that you’re thinking about Jesus’ experience. The experience of a human is the experience of our head, our heart, and what we are doing.

Fr. Tetlow’s books include Making Choices in ChristAlways Discerning, and You Have Called Me by My Name.
